WHO WE ARE

Based on the NSW Central Coast, EMTARA is led by husband and wife duo Josh and Emma. Together, they bring their complimentary expertise from their respective fields to equip local businesses with the practical skills, processes and confidence to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from unexpected challenges.

Josh

Josh’s career in frontline safety began in 2002, working in protective security at a Federal level. Since then, his experience has expanded across healthcare operations, emergency management, and work health and safety, spanning private enterprise, non-government organisations, and both State and Federal Government sectors.

Josh has developed a unique understanding of complex working environments. Whether working in Work Health and Safety at Taronga Zoo or leading first aid deployments at some of Australia’s largest music festivals in his volunteer roles, he has gained a deep appreciation for maintaining safety in dynamic and high-pressure settings.

Although Josh began informally teaching first aid as a volunteer early in his career, he formalised his passion for education more than a decade ago by obtaining his Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. He takes pride in translating theory into practical skills, empowering others with the confidence to respond effectively when it matters most.

Today, Josh works in health emergency management, building on over a decade of experience in healthcare operations and emergency response, including several years as an Operations Manager for a medical retrieval service.

Emma

As a Registered Nurse since 2016, Emma’s career first began in the Emergency Department, where she thrived in high-pressure environments and developed a strong foundation in clinical reasoning, problem-solving and critical care. Her passion for person-centred practice led her to specialise in mental health nursing, where she continues to support individuals and teams through complex and challenging circumstances.

With a dual Master’s degree in Public Health / Health Management, Emma combines clinical expertise with a systems-based understanding of healthcare delivery. She has extensive experience leading teams, facilitating workshops, and delivering education that bridges theory and practice. Emma is deeply passionate about creating learning spaces that are neuro-affirming, inclusive, and responsive to the unique ways in which people learn.

Outside of work, Emma is a busy mum of 2, who has learnt that sometimes resilience looks like coffee, curiosity, and a good sense of humour. Whether it's working as a clinician, running a household, or delivering a workshop, Emma approaches every role with empathy, authenticity, and a commitment to helping others grow and thrive.
